4 DAY TOUR – 3 Days / 4 Nights
DATE FOR FOR 2017:
- 31 August, 1, 2 and 3 September
Day 1 – Heading North
We depart Cape Town area and head North with the ever changing landscpapes for Clanwilliam to visit the Ramskop Flower Garden, a walk about the town and have lunch.Depending upon the state of the flowers in the Biedouw Valley we will either go there or continue onto Klawer for a quick wine taste before visiting the world famous Kokkerboom Nursery in Vanrhynsdorp for an educational guided tour. We overnight in Vanrhynsdorp and use the same accommodation as our base for the next three nights. The town is very conveniently situated to go in either direction for flowers – either to the North, West or to the East. An ideal situation as it enables one to plan each day accordingly especially if one has indifferent weather conditions in one area.
Day 2 – Nieuwoudtville – The bulb Capital of the world.
After an early breakfast we head on over the Knersvlakte up to Nieuwoudtville via the spectacular Vanrhyns Pass to Niewoudville, known as the bulb capital of the world where we will spend the day exploring this fascinating area visiting amongst other things the spectacular and unexpected Nieuwoudville waterfall, and the amazing Quiver Tree Forest with over 3000 trees! A visit to the farms Matjiesfontein and Papkuilsfontein will, without a doubt be another highlight. A visit to the local church hall to to enjoy some of the local pancakes is also a must! We return to Vanrhynsdorp to the same B & B. A full and memorable day!
Day 3 – The Knersvlakte to Garies and Kammieskroon
Depending how the flowers are up North in the Garies and Kammieskroon areas we will depart early after breakfast for anorher adventurous day! A visit to Skulpad in the Namaqua National Park will blow your mind with carpets of flowers as far as the eye can see. A real wall to wall experience which one finds difficult to explain to people! Seeing is believing!! A bit of travelling on this day but with the spectacular displays will make it all worthwhile. We head back to Vanrhynsdorp to the same B&B to overnight.
Day 4 – The West Coast back to Cape Town
We head back to Cape Town via the West Coast via the towns of Lamberts Bay, Elandsbaai to Veldrif and if time permits enjoy lunch in Partenoster or Langebaan depending upon where the flowers are showing. Historically this day will also be ANOTHER highlight as the flowers will follow us all the way to Cape Town.

Spring Flower Tours Departure Dates for 2018
5, 6, 7 and 8 September 2018 – I am thinking of adding a 5 day tour onto the end of the 4 day tour to The Kgalagadi Gemsbok National Park as we will be in Springbok which will save a lot of travelling. ( 9, 10, 11,12 and 13 September) OR making it a separate tour like this year.
